I'm having two problems with my new Palm Desktop 4.1. First, my alarms only show up when I open the Desktop. I want them to pop up on my Windows desktop. Next, is my desktop password to access private memo's supposed to be the same as the password on my m500? I tried it and it doesn't work. Thanks for any help you can give.

David,

As to the alarms, PalmDesktop assumes that you only want them active during the time that the desktop is running or at least that is the way it did for me or it assumes you will always have the desktop open.

What I did was to open "tools", then "options" and there is a tab for alarm and you must make sure that the item "always available" is checked. That should do it.

As to the password I can say, yes it should be the same. If it is not, something is wrong. I am not sure what to tell you, but try this. Take off the password on your palm, sync. Make sure that you can access your "private" information. Then activate the password on your Palm and sync again. Try the password and see if it works this time. If it does not, I do not know what to tell you.

Hope this helps & have a good day,
Calvados

Calvados,
I tried those fixes but I still can't get the alarms & security to work. Oh well, it would have just been a luxury to look at my secure items on my desktop. I would really like the alarms to work though, they used to work on the previous desktop version I had.
Thanks,
David

Here's what you need to do. For some reason XP will not put the alarm application in the startup folder---so you will need to do it.
Find your AlarmApp.exe file. Right click and choose copy. the find your startup folder and right click, then choose paste.
Now the alarm applicationwill start with windows as it did before.
Good Luck
