(Forgive me if I make no sense, until recently I did nothing with my H/PC but Word and Tasks, so I don't know much about how this thing actually works)

I've got a MobilePro 770 running CE 3.0 and using core system 2.11 (does that matter?). I've got a Linksys 802.11b PC card (model number WPC11 ver.3). I've also got a Mac equipped with an Airport card. Gaspandshock, a Mac guy, huh?

recently I found software that lets my Mac connect with a CE device and do all of those helpful things that the Sync software over on XP can do. There's just one problem - Macs don't have serial ports (at least mine doesn't), and the MobilePro 770 only does serial as far as I know. But the software that I found says it will work over ethernet or wireless.

So i've got the hardware to hook a mac and a CE, but I don't know how! what software do I need on the CE for it to recognize the fact that I put a wireless card in it? right now it won't detect that. If I can't convince the Mac and CE to play nice, can I convince the CE to at least connect to a Wi-Fi base station so I can get at my nice shiny high-speed access?

Sorry that was incredibly long.

(oh, and those of you who want to get into an argument of Mac vs. Windows, I will make you cry! :D )

Don't know about your HP problems too much except, I don't think an Airport is capatible with the Linksys card.

However, on the MAC XP thing, even though I don't own a Mac, I love the OS, here's why..... It's poor mans Unix Open BSD.... I use FreeBSD on my home system...Mac isn't an OS anymore...those days are gone. Apple found a new business model, the same as Redhat, use open source software and cutomize it for your customer.

I hate to go against you, but apple says that the Airport modem is fine with anything that's Wi-Fi (atually, I tried it with a windows desktop, It can connect fine.) I found the deal, right from Apple : Windows can connect with 802.11b, but only a Mac with an Airport card can adjust settings.

Well if that is true then this MIGHT work ....

1. Set all you wireless devices to ADHOC mode and the same SSID.
2. Give the PPC an IP on the same subnet as the PPC..something like 192.168.X.X or whatever you use.

At this point you must find a way to get the hostname of the MAC into the PPC. You amy need pocket hosts or another osftware for this. Since you have never synced the two together, the default "network" sync computer is the one you active sync with primarily...

Does the HPPC not have a USB capability? That is your ultimate killer... Not sure this will work, but heh, i try...
