I just bought a M125 palm.
I like it so far but find the batteries to be annoying.
The batteries were low and the unit could not turn on, and of course I was miles away from being able to sync to my computer.
I changed the batteries one at a time and "KABOOM!"
I lost all my data including important appointment times and what not. This was so annoying! It made me wish I had my crappy paper planner because ink doesn't fade away!
Is there away to avoid this when replacing batteries?
I am going on a vacation from my office and I know the batteries will die and I don't want to lose all my data and its making me want to bring my old school paper planner with me.
Please Help?
PS- anyone know the average life of the Palm M125 batteries?
I think they last about 2 weeks if that.

How far down was the battery meter when you changed the batteries?
There may be a problem with your capacitor.
I have the battery info 1.3-
It was down to 2.17v which was the warning threshold.

I've always been a little more conservative about battery changes... I don't let them go below about 2.2-2.3V. I've never had a problem with battery changes that way. I get about 30-35 days from a pair of AAAs in my m125, but the only games I play on it are card games (Solitaire, FreeCell) and mahjongg.

i get three weeks to a month out of my batterys in my m125. but i too am leary about running them dead i swap them out as soon as that low battery warning starts to get annoying. and backing up to a card is the only way to go if you are away from your computer for extended time

Is really unnecesary a secondary app for cheking batery's level. Palm m125 warn to you (its very annoying) when battery is low. Then, you must to assist that warning inmediatly. The range of live will be depend your use, but its arroud 2 to 4 weeks.
You can buy a couple of rechargable batery set (about 1600mAH). When a couple get off, other couple you have charged for replace other. This way, you'll have more time of power.
Remember the batery don't remove batteries for more than 1 minute when you have doing a replacement. If you do this correctly, and follow losting data, then surely the capacitor of back up of your PDA its bad, damage or unplugged. This device guarantees you lees 60 seconds of power to your data for not losting.
Call Palm inc or authorized agent for fixit, this is very annoting, I understand. Good Luck

What I have done with my m100 (don't worry, you can do the same) is I bought 4 rechargeable AAA NiMH batteries and I put X-master and battery hack on my palm. I configured battery hack for NiMH batteries and I wait til the hack tells me I'm at 30%, then I change the batteries. I haven't had a single problem yet. I suggest this method, and backing up your RAM onto a SD card just to be safe.
