After setting up a password, I assumed that I would be asked to re-enter it everytime I turn the power on, but I am not. Occasionally it asks me for the password, but sometimes I can get straight in. Have I got this wrong? Incidentally, when I connect to my PC, the pc prompts me to enter the password.

Also, worryingly, sometimes when I turn the power on my Ipaq H3970 on, there is no backlight at all, and I have to go into the system settings (in the dark!) to drag the brightness bar up, as it has dropped to the bottom of the slider, does anyone know why this is happening?

Thanks, Amanda:eek:

Have you changed the password timing in Start/Settings/Password ?

There's an option "Prompt if device unused for" <an amount of time>.

Change that to 0 if you want the PPC to ask for a password everythime you switch on.

If the backlight is set to automatic try removing that checkmark. On automatic the ipaq is supposed to detect the ambient light in the room but I dont think it always works. Try it if you have automatic enabled.
