I have just finished testing the long awated I500
this phone is a masterpiece from samsung.
Phone is based on the 1300/i330 palm os 4.1 platform and will blow the hell out of the 705 from palm for about the same $$
color screen is superb but the ergonomics are only fair.
the phone looks very simular to the new folding clies.
colors avail i am not sure of because some techs got black ones while others got the "traditional" samsung silver.
price for this will be $699 to start and should fall to $499 by july.
IF YOU ARE THINKING OF PURCHASING THE I330 WAIT.
the better value is still the i300 or waiting for the i500

many of you are sending me emails regarding the ergonomics of the i500.
ok heres the scoop
the buttons are very tiny and i have somewhat large fingers. this phone is not a full open filp but a 3/4 flip much like a "V"
the digitizer wasnt the greatest (for auto adjust of the calibration) it was just slightly off( remember this is only a prototype of this unit and it had bugs to work out)
i also broke one of the 2 styluses but they are easy to replace (w/sony clie s/n pens)

Kris,
On the i500 do you recall if you can talk on the phone and use the touch screen? I saw a review today for the Kyocera 7135 that said if the phone is in use the touch screen is disabled. This seems to be a major drawback if you want to reference a note or phone number while on a call.

except the voice recorder not working, most functions still work ,but the drawback is the default is to only allow functions tied into the phone program to work ie: address, todolist, etc.. not like games and avantgo. but as soon as you hang up it will return to the prior program.
the kyocera uses this as a "keylock" of sorts. they spent months determining this by surveys of users. the major response was "starting a program while i was on the phone!"
go figure!

This is good news about the completed testing! Does this mean we'll see it mid March in stores?
BTW, macmetal666, the most used discussion group for the I500 is over at http://www.smartphoneforums.com/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=11 We'd love to have you pop in and talk about testing!
