Using the search lets me find previous threads on reoccuring topics. I can usually answer most of my questions using the information in the previous threads. Will my experience on pocket pc's is growing, the "feeling" i get is that microsoft media player is not the greatest. I have onlt tried pocket tv as a media player and it had no trouble locating all playable video files. Try searching the forum if you cant wait for a reply or download pocket tv for starters while you search for other media players thru the forum threads. gnu 02-14-2003, 08:12 PM Ok, I did search, and found that generally people were satisfied with the Pockettv player, but I still cannot play the files that I want. They are "video clips" that I can play with WMP on my desktop, but can't with ppc wmp or pcktv. And I don't seem to be finding any threads specifically about those files. Also, do I need a special player to play quicktimes and real files on the ppc? Thanks for anything that you guys could tell me. futureexecutive 02-15-2003, 05:51 AM ok im speaking strickly from ignorance but i believe that some media formats are just not supported on any pocket pc. The format of the media files you have may need converting to a media format that will work on the pocket pc and pocket pc media viewers. This is the impression i get from reading previous threads on movies and converting movies/media for pocket pc use I am now out of my element....good luck I know at some point i will be looking in to media file conversions but not too soon Iguana73 02-15-2003, 08:54 PM If you are still tryig o use WMP. It won't work. Sorry for the news. Try other third party programs. go2duke 02-17-2003, 11:07 AM You need to know what the file type is...! As the others have mentioned, the same file formats that work on WMP for the PC, do not always work on the WMP for PPC. You may need a particular CODEC or an entirely different program. The most popular that I hear about in this forum are PocketTV and PocketDivx. They support different types of files so choose which one based on your needs. G2D Gary Wolfe 02-22-2003, 07:41 PM I downloaded PocketDivx, and it worked great on the couple of things I tried. By the way, when I installed a couple of programs (I'm not sure if PocketDivx was one of them), it asked if it should install over "gx.dll". I have been telling it "no"! I assume that the gx.dll that came installed from Dell is correct for the Axim. I've had no problems so far.... kpduty 02-23-2003, 12:31 PM I'm sure you folks are all aware that the free Resco Picture Viewer that comes with the AXIM CD plays MPEG video quite nicely. morphscott 02-23-2003, 02:33 PM You can also get a great program known as PictPocket Cinema, which does all of what you want and more, too. You can try it or buy it at the following web link-: http://www.digisoftdirect.com/ PDA Street
