So much for the vaunted service and quality of the Dell experience!!. I find their service a joke! I ordered an Axim and a a number of accessories more than a week ago with a promised delivery date for today, needing the trip for a business trip next week.

When I didn't get it as planned I tried both their website and automated phone line and was told my order didn't exist. When I called Customer Service, they told me my order had been bumped back a minimum of 2-3 weeks, so I canceled my order and all I got was a hollow apology. Needless to say I'm canceling my order tomorrow when I call their Sales Dept, which is another annoying part of their service, having to call another dept. to cancel my order. Makes me regret not buying an iPAQ 5455 like I was considering, since I'd be up and running by now, rather than being up the metaphoric creek without a paddle for my business

My advice: don't waste your time on the Axim, since God knows when you'll get it. At least if you buy an iPAQ and you run into a problem (unlikely), you'll have HP's top notch support to use.

Yeah, the long wait for mine almost made me want to cancel my order too. However, since I got mine yesterday, I've found that it's quite a good handheld for not too much money. Of course, it being my first, I have no frame of reference, but it just seems like a good value.

Although the long wait was disheartening, I have to admit.

You ordered the hotest selling PDA on the planet, you expect it to show up and be ready in time for a business trip the week following your expected delivery date. Hmmmm.

How much research had you done prior to purchase? THere were a gazillion posts referencing multiple delays in shipping.

Don't mean to poke to hard, but the Axim is definitely a price driven purchase. If time was your primary determinate you could have paid significantly more to buy in store with the same features.

I took advantage of the delay to get a better deal. I hope you make your trip and presentation in a timely fashion.

BTW re HP I bought a G85 printer from them last spring and the customer service has been anything BUT top notch. sub standard would be good descriptor.

I think what it boils down to is Dell needs to be straightforward with these delivery targets. It is crazy for them to give an expected ship date of one week after purchase, knowing full well that there are backorders like crazy!!

Over promise and under deliver is not the way to do business!!

My first order done via the web at the Dell outlet was delayed multiple times. The second order done via the phone at Dell was accurate to within a couple of days (early!).

When I went online prior to the second order, their was a statement saying three to four week ship times.

Not defending Dell, just stating facts.
