I have sucessfully made my Psion 3a send faxes and e-mail using the Psion 3a. I am off to the Netherlamds in four weeks, and I was wondering if I can use the 3Fax with a netherlands phone adaptor to send my match reports home? Or do I need a modem and all the gubbins?

I was wondering if I can use the 3Fax with a netherlands phone adaptor to send my match reports home? Or do I need a modem and all the gubbins? The name "3Fax" is a bit misleading because it actually refers to either Psion's 'Faxmodem' for the Series 3a or the "3Fax" software only, supplied on SSD.

It appears that what you have is the "3Fax modem" so in that respect you already have a modem. You must be careful, particularly in hotels, not to connect to a 'digital' phone line and you may have to disable "Wait for dialtone" in PsiMail Internet, if that is what you are using, because the dial tone in a different country may not be recognised. Otherwise, I would expect it to work, unless any of our Dutch members have any info to the contrary.

My apologies, I did mean the 3fax modem.
What I meant to say was another Modem with the 3Link, null modem etc.
I will give it a go with the 3fax modem, as my friend in the Netherlands has told me I can log on to his ISP, use his user details and then send my reports using his e-mail address, from the stadium (a common practise amongst speedway reporters!).
Now if only my trusty Psion 3a could send my pictures....:D
Thanks for such a prompt reply Mike.

my friend in the Netherlands has told me I can log on to his ISP, use his user details and then send my reports using his e-mail address If you are using his ISP account you need to connect with his Username and Password and send mail with his ISP's SMTP server. However, there is no need to use his "email address". You should be able to use your own email address and retrieve mail from your own ISP's POP3 server as usual.
