I'm looking to upgrade from my Handspring Visor to a modern day PDA. I was looking at a Pocket PC type and looking to spend around $300 for the PDA. Right now I use my PDA to sync with Outlook 2000 for tasks, contacts, appointments, etc. I also do alot of typing. I use a fold out, full sized keyboard on my Visor so my next PDA, I'll have to get another keyboard (not wireless or thumb board but a real keyboard). I also use Avantgo, Thought Manager, Documents to Go. On the new PDA I would also like to have a voice recorder, be able to play MP3s and view color pictures. I've been looking at the following PDA's: Dell Axim X5 Advances which is $314 right now and Toshiba e335 which is $299 right now. Anyone have any thoughts on these 2? I've heard that the Dell is rather large but it has a compact flash slot which will let me take the memory out of my camera and view the pictures, a replaceable battery, a faster processor and more memory. The Toshiba is pretty light weight and the available keyboard for it is about $20 cheaper. Which one (or is there another one) should I choose?

The Toshiba is fine for what you want. Some problems reported with the clarity and brightness of they sceen. I personnaly don't like the look and feel of teh E series Toshiba's. I have both an Ipaq and a Dell and enjoy(ed) both of them. The Dell is a great value for what you get and it is not any bigger "feeling" than other PPCs. The full size keyboard is very slim and works great without any lag in typing. The dual slots on board prevent the need to purchase extra sleeves like the Ipaq requires.
Basically you have listed what you want and PPC covers that, just which one do you want to buy??? Read some editorial reviews and value type reviews and make your decision on those.
Good luck and come back here once you get it to let us know the choice.
