Can I hotsynch my palms on more than one computer? Do I just need to install the palm desktop onto the other computer? If I can sync to other computers, what happens when I synch back and forth like that? does the information get passed between computers??

Thanks!

I sync up to a HP 6100 laptop at work and an eMachine 2042 at home. Outlook on the home box, Lotus notes on the work computer. Intellsync at work, Chupara at home.

Both calendars, notes, address books, programs, etc.. stay perfectly in sync.

I am having some difficulties hot synching on another computer. Long ago (8 months ago), I installed the Palm softwared into Computer A. I have since moved on and used another computer (Computer B). I am now using computer A for a few weeks and would like to hotsynch with my palm. However, the error message on the palm pilot reads that there is a connection problem and that I should check the setup. Do I need to reconfigure anything? Is that what they are asking of me? Also on the computer end of things, the error message says that it nees to download a software. Windows XP automatically searches the internet for a software and of course, it doesn't find one. Why can't I hot synch? Why is this such a difficult issue?

If anyone can help, please let me know!

Try uninstalling the Palm software, and then reinstalling it, on Computer A. Also, you can go to Palm's website and download the most recent version of the Palm desktop. I believe that it is Version 4.1 at this time.

ok so I downloaded Palm for desktop from the palm website. I unzipped the file and about 9 icons showed up. Also the palm icon showed up on my desktop. I tried to hotsynch and it didn't work. The error message on may palm still says the connection cannot be made to my computer.

then I double clicked on setup.exe and a whole bunch of other icons showed up. Tried to hotsynch again and no luck.

I'm going to try and restart my computer and see if that does the trick.

But if you guys have any tips out there. let me know!

Did you uninstall (through Control Panel, add/remove programs) the old version of the software before you reinstalled the new one? In the Palm Hot Sync manager, is Local USB checked for the configuration?

yes and yes. Also, when I restart the computer, same thing. Same error message.

Wow. OK, let's try some testing.

1. If you connect the same cradle to a different computer, can you sync that way. (Test to see if the cradle is OK.)

2. If yes, to #1, can you connect a different cradle to the first computer, and will it sync? (If no, then perhaps USB port.)

3. if no to #1, connect a different cradle that is known to work to both computers. What happens?

I too have experienced the EXACT same problems that Sunshine has described. I have tried everything with no success. I think that it has something to do with your primary PC TCP/IP address when you are synching your palm device. When you try and sync on your alternate computer your palm device does not recognize your TCP/IP address on your alternate computer. You can view this information by clicking on the hotsync icon and opening your setup info. Next your click on network and you can see the TCP/IP address. I hope that someone knows the solution to this problem because I have the same need for my home and work computer.
