I am thinking about picking up an e310. Are there any 802.11b solutions for it?

TIA

Erik

Since all you can use is a the SD/MMC card slot and there aren't any 802.11 cards that fit in there yet...

The only wireless connectivity to date is Bluetooth... which doesn't seem to be that useful yet unless you have a Sony Ericsson T68 phone or some of the other small items like printers etc that have some bluetooth capability

If I am wrong... please let me know. I certainly can't keep up with everything.

you are right on that one. to connect the e310 wirelessly you need to use a bluetooth SD card (Toshiba makes them) and connect to a BT enabled mobile or other BT devices. The T68/T68i are capable of this as well as the Nokia 6310/6310i, 7650, 8910 (for Europe and Asia Pacific) not sure of the models in the US. But using the BT SD card on the e310 will tie-up its only memory expansion slot, this would be a disadvantage if you download emails with attachments, specially if you have very little memory on you RAM.

The reason I ask is because I want to get a PPC that I can hook into my wireless network. Do they make BT adapters that allow you to connect into a WiFi network? Or is there a BT access point that I could use on my network?

Thx

If you already have an available wireless network, i would suggest the toshiba e740 it has built in WiFi adapters. and runs on the new xscale 406mhz platform. the e310 will not fit your bill at this time.

cheers :)

Problem is cash... I would love the 740, but I can get a refurbished 310 for $220... I also read that SD WiFi cards will be out by Q1 2003...

802.11 SD cards should be out by Christmas or early next year. I posted a link to an article with more details in this forum on 8/23/02 but I'm too lazy to copy and paste it. I don't think there was any info on prices though.
