Hi, just recieved my new m515,
when I carry it in my pocket it goes on by accidental button pressure, is there a way to turn on my palm using combination buttons (pressing two buttons at once to turn on?)

I have not used this little program, but have heard a lot of people say that they liked it because it stopped the Palm from coming on in their pocket.

It is called "Stayoff Hack". You of course will have to have either hackmaster or Xmaster installed to use this, I use Xmaster, as Xmaster is a free program & works really well.. I am putting a link below for each:

Clink on this Link to "StayOff Hack" (http://www.palmgear.com/software/showsoftware.cfm?sid=72822120020909115309&prodID=5993)

Clink on this link to get "Xmaster" (http://www.palmgear.com/software/showsoftware.cfm?sid=31590620020909115800&prodID=12184)

Hope that this helps & have a good day,

In addition to the Hack that Calvados mentioned you might want to consider a hard case. The fact that the buttons are being pressed while the Palm is in your pocket indicates pressure on the Palm that could do more harm that simpy draining the battery.

Another approach is a locking application called OnlyMe. It keeps others from getting to your personal information, should the Palm loose its way. OnlyMe allows you to set the Palm to only come on with the power button.

I actually use both StayOff Hack & the Pam hardcase. I find that even with the hardcase, you can squeeze the case and engage the power button.

StayOff hack will require two buttons to be pressed, but the hardcase is to protect the screen.

I'm surprised to hear that your hard case fails to keep the power button from being pressed. I carry my 515 in my left pants pocket with only the leather flap 70% of the time. I use the Palm Hard case for about 15% of the time and 15% of the time the Palm is locked to my Novatel Modem and in the leather slipcase.
Could your palm be coming on by itself? Not always requiring a push on the button. The 505 had that very bad habit.

I don't think it's a case of my m515 comes on by itself ... It seems like the unit fits quite well (too well) inside the hardcase.

I experimented by applying pressure at the top end of the case (a squeeze), and when I open the case, lo & behold, the unit is turned on.

To be on the safe side, I use StayOff hack ...

I followed your lead. Put my 515 in the Palm hard case and tried every way I could to make it turn on. Not an option! If I want it turned on I must open the case. I'll try my InnoPocket on my wife's 505 tonite.

Hmmm ... I just tested again to make sure what I said is correct ...

I deactivate StayOff, and squeeze the case, and my Palm gets turned on. Admittedly, not everytime ... so it depends on where & how much pressure was applied.

Perhaps it's my hardcase ... Anyway, you can always have a choice of using StayOff or not.
