you would need to contact verizon for the price and service plans.
verizon has long used the practice " the longer the contract , the cheaper the phone!"

as for info there are 1000's of sites with info on the 7135, most are factual w/some opinions thrown in, read many of them for the best info!!!!

I've been trying to get one for months. Verizon keeps telling me that it won't be until June/July and that it keeps failing their network testing. This is bull$hit.

Kyocera says to look for something promotion oriented this month or next from Verizon.

Kyocera also told me that I could buy a phone via their Phone Store, but you have to put in an Arkansas Zip code (72202) and buy it w/o activation ($700). Programming the phone is the simple part. Verizon told me that they would do an ESN change for free.

I just purchased a 7135 from GetConnected.com - they are offering it with Verizon Wireless service.

I must say - it's awesome! It's about as close to perfect as I could have imagined......

What Zip Code did you use?

I've had one for about a month and a half on AllTel's CDMA network. It's a little slower than my Treo 90 and it glitches periodically on received test messages to where it has to be reset. Battery life has been two days at best on stand-by. (Big shock compared to my AT&T Nokia which gets 5-7 days depending upon useage). Order an extra battery and holster(s) and you should be ok. If they could get the battery life up to 5 days and integrate the internal GPS with Street Maps for the Palm is would be a PHENOMINAL product. Would I buy one again? I'd have to think about it.

Having now owned a 7135 for two months I can understand why Verizon is hesitant to pick them up. As a PDA it's great! As a cell phone it just plain SUCKS! Three times last week on three commercial airline flights the 7135 just turned itself back on without anyone touching it. (Federal violation in addition to airline safety) In full signal strength areas the phone is 3 for 7 when it comes to actually acknowledging and receiving calls. Most of the time it beeps you with a missed call. (I'm talking outside sitting on a bench with full signal it won't acknowledge a call.) When roaming it can take up to five minutes to lock on to a carrier signal. Kyocera is aware of these software problems and is promising an update sometime in the "near future" that will correct some of the issues. In the meantime, PLEASE DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY ! Battery life has also decreased to under 24 hours on standby in a digital area.

Sounds more like your (dstaysniak) provider (Alltel) than the phone - or possibly the programming of the phone.

I have had mine for about 2 weeks and have used it heavily without any issues whatsoever from all over PA, and LosAngles, CA

Initial Connection with Verizon & Kyocera took less than an hour. I'm the 1st one on the Verizon network in my home area. Verizon's on-line programming (*228) worked flawlessly as well.

Major Kudos to Kyocera (Dave) tech support & the techs @ Verizon.

Battery time has been excellent, given it's size and all that it is being asked to power (palm, Cell, backlit/color screen, LCD on top, etc).

Very Satisfied
:D

It's always wise to take individual user's experiences as just that - individual user's experiences. Just because one person has had bad luck with something doesn't necessarily mean that it "sucks". I don't consider a unit defective, problematic, or useless unless multiple people report the same issues.

I can't speak for the problems that dstaysniak had, but I can say that I've had my 7135 for about a month and love it. I have used the Palm functions and the phone functions extensively and aside from a couple of Palm crashes due to incompatible hacks it has been flawless - I have not experienced any of the issues that dstaysniak described. The only complaint I have is that the earpiece doesn't get loud enough - even with it cranked up to maximum volume I sometimes have to put it on speakerphone to hear the caller.

To Don Mega: I have Verizon as well - have you had any problems with call volume?

As a point of reference, one of my other offices has two 7135's and have had them for about 1.5 months. So the three phones came frmo two different batches. One of their phone has started to display the same problems that my phone has been displaying.
So it's MORE THAN JUST ONE PHONE and one person's opinion involved.

Tannen.....I am assuming you mean audio volume of calls and not the amount of calls.....There is a definite 'sweet' spot for my ear and have had some cases where I have to move the phone around my ear where I can actually hear at a decent volume level.

I have been uploading MP3's and have had some occasional 'time-outs' - but that may be because of my power settings on my laptop. I also did not have the power cord plugged in...more experimentation will show the answer to this one. Closing the phone while playing an MP3 will interupt the mp3 playback if you have a 'Close Phone' sound setup. Some minor tweaking there.

Still no connection / service issues.

D

Don,

Thanks for the reply - as it turns out, I *just* found that sweet spot and no longer have any issues with volume - it's as loud as it needs to be!

I've found that the MP3 download is incredibly slow. I've been thinking of simply copying MP3's to my SD card through a USB adapter - I think that will speed it up tremendously - but then I would lose the ability to modify the playlist order with the Kyocera utility. Any thoughts?

Thought I would add my two cents.

I've had my 7135 about 5 weeks now. Bought it from a
cell phone dealer in Ohio on Ebay. Paid the premium price,
but it is worth it.

I am Very, Very Happy. This thing is 99.9% perfect.
My only want is the ability to use a send/end style
earphone so I would not have to remove it from
my pocket to answer a call. Can't do that.

Otherwise, Its perfect.

The folks at my local Verizon store were Great. They were
as excited to see a REAL one as I was.
They to have been getting run around from their upper management folks.

I was told last week that they have started getting parts and accessories in, so the phones should be showing up soon.

If you want a "perfect" pda/Phone, Get one!

What you are looking for already exists. Get the Stereo Headset (accessory item number TXCKT10008) - it has a Send/End button on it. A nice feature of the headset is when you are listening to MP3's and a call comes in, just press the button to mute the song and answer the phone. Once you hit the button to end the call you can listen to music again. All this can be done with the phone open or closed.

Thank you Tannen.
I'm not a MP3 person, so I had not purchased thet accessory.
I went ahead and ordered one.

Now I have the PERFECT Pda/Phone

Also, I have not experienced any of the problems
reported above. However I do not use any hacks.
That could be a contributing factor.

Thanks,
Byron

I thought there were several special lists for the Kyocera 7135 but can't find them. On one someone was developing a pair of regular stereo HEADPHONES(not buds) for the 7135. I bought the expensive 7135 buds but they keep falling out of ear. Currently using a cell phone earpiece to listen to music. Luv a regular pair of earphoness with the special plug the Kyocera needs. Have tried an adapter and doesn't work; causes 7135 to crash. Volume is not great with music if in a noisy location like a mall but overall I luv the 7135 and have few problems. Sometimes on a "busy" website where I have to keep scrolling down and switching pages there comes a time when unit will crash but overall is very good. Bought AOL mail from Handango and works well. Only one dropped call so far where I got a message instead of the call and even then there was no notice of the message. But I have ALLTEL and it has worked well. Last bill was over $250 so think I need a new plan.

Any info appreciated. TIA John digital843@aol.com

Agreed - the expensive 7135 ear buds suck - I can't keep them in my ears either. Grrr....

Here's a tip for you - the headphone jack ISN'T proprietary - it's a standard mini-plug and you can use any personal stereo headphones. The only thing you won't get with something non-Kyo is the mute button to silence the music when a call comes in. Save yourselves some money, folks, and DON'T buy those Kyo ear buds!

Maybe Kyocera is making different models. Mine definitely does not accept a miniplug - only the MICROPLUG such as is used for cell phones. However, since last posting I did find a headphone with two earphones at RadioShack made for phones (with the smaller plug). It works(naturally is not stereo) but I still would like something better. Keep posting guys.

Do you know if I can use the car charger for my 6035 on my 7135 or do I need to buy a new one? I went away for the weekend and the battery went flat fast. The 6035 could go the weekend no problem. Didn't want to try plugging in the car charger fearing different voltage or something. I felt like I was in a foreign country trying to figure out how to use a pay phone again.

Thanks,

Brian

Kyocera should be able to let you know about that charger right away. They seem to have good support. After telling everyone I never had any dropped calls I did get a "MISSED CALL" notice with no ring at the time of the call. And today..phone reception has been going on and off all day and when wanted to make call couldn't. Must be ALLTEL. Things are never boring,

I have the 7135 running on the Verizon 1X network. Works great. Now I want automatic, scheduled downloads of my email!! Any ideas folks?? It seems silly to have to get out the stylus and poke around, then wait. Let's let the processor do the work unattended...

BTW -- I already had a separate number on the Unlimited Express Network plan allowing me an "always on" internet for my laptop via a Sierra Wireless card. So, on my main cell phone account (on which the 7135 has become my phone) I've purchased 10MB of unlimted access to the 1X network... to avoid paying another $80/mo.

I find the Verizon folks almost uniformly pleasant lately, if not uniformly well informed... but I always end up with some conscientious/knowledgeable person (even though it takes going through 3-5 handoffs before I get there!)

As you have probably already learned, the connector is different. You can't use the 6035 car charger on the 7135.

Hi Guys,

I went through two 7135's from Verizon. Been a 6035 owner with Sprint since the release.

The 7135 may have its issues but the big problem is with Verizon. My first phone was returned because of constant fatal errors. At no time did Verizon offer any help or a replacement. I had to call the executive office in Tampa to get a return. My second 7135 was perfect. Too bad Verizon does not care. 90 Minute wait times to get help and faster than u can get a word out, they say Hold Please and you are back in the wait que. After waiting a frustrating 5 calls and 90 minutes, I finally got someone who knew how to process a return. All I wanted was to return a wireless headset, the attitude of the person just set me off and I told them to take it all back. DONE

It was too bad, I loved the phone but I could not resolve being a slave to Verizon for two years.

Here is who you need to call at Verizon to voice your complaints.

Defane Mclane 813-290-5744
Consumer Resolutions

and

Matt Staley 813-290-5841
Assistant to Ms Mclane

Call them and tell them how poor Verizon support and Service is.

You can also email Kyocera at

shopkeeper@kyocera-wireless.com

and let them know your complaints.
