Dear dmcfalls:

This probably happens because you might have hotsynced to your 6035 from your computer and doubled your records. Delete the doubled records on the computer and just have single records and hotsync with the option to overight your records in the 6035. After this (it should work), set hotsync to syncronize records instead. At this point you should always syncronize records when you hotsync your phone. What ever you do always keep a backup in a safe place, such as a floppy. Just copy the whole palm directory somewhere safe and never delete all your records on the computer (Palm Desktop) just to overwrite your phone's records-"records all gone forever"

Good Luck

I too have a Duplication and Multiple Duplication problem with my Kyocera 7135 and its MEMO's. This has to be an OS4.1 problem , i've never seen it happen on my PALMIIIc with OS3.5

Still trying to resolve the problem actually...
As said in this forum, backup your records !

Here is a long story about solving a similar problem I had on the 6035. The first part describes the problem and the acutal cause. The second (and longer) part describes the nightmare I had with Sprint trying to do a simple "flash update" to update the phones internal software. The second part may also be related to why Sprint is dragging their feet on the 7100.

I have a 6035 and had problems with duplicate addresses as well as hotsynch problems. the hotsynch problems were ONLY with the address database, never anything else. And sometimes I would have hotsynch problems and at other times, not. I thought this was wierd and tried to live with it until I talked with another 6035 owner who said he NEVER had problems, so, I emailed Palm, Kyocera, and Chapura (hotsynch sw provider).

Chapura (bless their hearts!) is the only company who responded AND they actually knew about the problem, knew what was causing it, gave me a work around, and told me how to fix it permanently...who could ask for more? And guess what, the problem didn't have anything to do with their software, and yet, they were the only company who put me on the correct path to solving the problem. Here is what Chapura said:

"What we have found to be happening in this scenario is whenever you use the lookup button on the far left of your phone keypad or access the same lookup feature using the scroll button on the left side of the phone, the Contacts database on the phone is not being close properly after using this feature, then in turn when PocketMirror tries to access this database during a HotSync, it is not able too.

Do a soft reset of your phone and then after you reset it make sure to open your phone address book at least once by lifting up the keypad/mouth piece and pressing the button with the "Phone" icon then you should be able to HotSync again without the error.

Kyocera has released information regarding an update to fix this error message with the Contacts; they can be reach at 1-800-349-4478 or phone-help@kyocera-wireless.com. The fix for the Kyocera is to take the phone in to the carrier they will flash in the update that resolves this issue."

Pretty cool, eh? I contacted Kyocera, and a really cool guy named, Dave. He confirmed the problem, said I needed a software update and that Kyocera could arrange it, but because I got the phone through Sprint, I would have to ask them for it first.

So...I went to Sprint...

The first thing I find out is that this flash update, will take an hour, but, can only be done at an actual Sprint service center and the closest one to me is 90 miles away.

So, I arrange a business trip, drop the phone off at lunch, and anxiously return to pick up my newly updated phone after an afternoon of NO CELL PHONE & EMAIL (yikes!). A sheepish tech comes out to say that the flash update is done, but now my phone does not work at all! I was dumbfounded. Initially, it seemed like they were just going to dump this on me, just like that. But, to their credit, they eventually filled out some paperwork that they said would result in a new phone being sent to me. Since that would take a few days, they also gave me a free cheapie cell phone and activated with my cell number (interesting!) All I had to do, after all this, was to send my non-working 6035 back in a pre-paid pouch after my replacement arrived.

Four days later, my replacement 6035 arrived. Filled with doubt that they could smoothly change the phone that was working with my own cell number, I called Sprint and they activated the new phone with my old number, no sweat. I nervously hotsyched the new 6035 and sure enough, all my stuff was in the phone, also no sweat...cool!(I'd like to see a regular cell phone user replace their hundreds of phone numbers so easily!). I was back!

Then...

After about an hour, I noticed that the new 6035's keypad was randomly entering wrong numbers. I could dial from the address book every time with no problems, but if I manually entered a number (heaven forbid), I could almost never get a sequence of as many as seven numbers without error. Darn!

I called Sprint...again...

No sweat they said, and arranged for another replacement to be sent. I didn't worry too much because at least this replacement was usable through the PDA...I was still on the air. That one arrived two month ago and worked just great. Instead of sending one phone back in the pouch Sprint gave me, I returned two, no problems. And the billing adjustments took only two months to get perfectly ironed out...although I have another two weeks until I get my next printed bill to be absolutely sure.

I still LOVE the 6035, I daily do things no one else can do even if they have a cell, PDA, and laptop. And, all things considered, I think Sprint did a good job of trying to recover (in the specific customer service world of recovery).

Today...I noticed, if I push the number one (1) key a little to the side while pressing the number (not EXACTLY straight down), my screen will jump to a random phone setup menu...that's why I was looking online and found this forum.

to be continued...
