Has anyone gotten their MobilePro to work with a wireless network card? Are there specfic cards (low power, etc) that are supposed to be used? And help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I don't have any first hand experience (yet), but Chris De Herrera's Windows CE Website (http://www.cewindows.net) has a list of PC cards (http://www.cewindows.net/peripherals/pccardwirelesslan.htm) and CompactFlash cards (http://www.cewindows.net/peripherals/cfwirelesslan.htm) that are supposed to work.

I think for a 780 you need to get one that supports Windows CE 2.11 (someone correct me if I'm wrong).

Robert,

What settings do you have to use in the control panels to get connected? I checked out Chris's site, but it's a little beyond me.

I can't even get my card to come up on the IR/Serial drop-downs for connectivity. What am I doing wrong? Also, are you activesyncing through your lan? how is that accomplished??

I have an MP780 and Socket PC card.

Do I need to set anything in the Network control panel? Or, in any of the apps from the "connections" selection off the start-programs menu?

Thanks in advance,
Anthony

Robert,

I'm curious what the exact model number is of the socket card you are using... I'd hate to buy another card and have it not work too!

I'm using a Socket WL6000-320. Information can be found at http://www.socketcom.com/product/WL6000-320.asp

Settings:
Network settings (in control panel) - I provide Identification information for our NT domain (NT name, password & domain) so I can access network resources. Under the 802.11b wireless lan adapter I simply check "obtain an IP address via DHCP".

The communication settings (for PC connection) do not apply to network connections.

On the desktop taskbar, I have an adapter icon for the wireless card: Under "settings", I have configured the ESSID, operating mode, & power settings. Under the "advanced", I have setup the encryption algorithm and key.

ActiveSync: You must 1st astablish a sync relationship via the cable - once this has been done, simply use the drop down list (on the HPCs activesync menu) to select "Network Connection" and press connect.

Hope this info helps
