To retrieve e-mail I am trying to connect (dial-up) to the internet using the ir port on my M100 and the ir port on my Nokia 5210. I have installed Eudora and configured the settings in the Connection and Network sections of my Palm according to the information provided by Nokia.
The Palm initiates the dial-up but my Nokia displays "terminal connection lost" soon after it dials the number for my internet service provider.

Is it at all possible to connect to the internet with the M100?

It should be possible. Is your cell phone data-enabled. Make sure that the two devices are very close because you are using infrared.

I sat with the tech. people of my mobile service provider and they couldn't manage to make things work either. The phone is data/fax enabled, I downloaded all the s/w I could find from Nokia and Palm for Ir connectivity...........

As a test I tried to use the SMS facility provided on the Palm CD, that doesn't work either. Even though there are plenty of messages on my phone the Palm says there are no messages to download.

Very frustrating. Still hoping someone here can help out.

Hi;

Just a guess, but it is possible that you have to enter the primary and secondary DNS numbers in prefs/network/details on your M100. Uncheck "Query DNS", and enter the appropriate numbers. Your Internet Service Provider should be happy to provide them.
