hi everybody. I got my first pda today. It is an m130. It was a display model. I don't know if the batteries are already in it, but they were not in the box.
Also, the pictures are not identical with the back panel in the manual, so the battery compartment access has me stumped. I am reticent to just start prying on plastic. Help

The m130 uses a rechargeable battery because it has a color display. You do not need any standard batteries. Because of this, please do not try to open the back of your unit as it is not needed.
The instructions that came with your m130 are for the entire m100 series. Every PDA except the m130 uses normal batteries. That is why the picture has you confused.
All you need to do now is plug in your cradle and charge for a few hours. Then you will be ready to go.
Good luck.

well then, I am glad I did not just start yanking on stuff. Okay it is in the cradle thingy and is plugged in. Is there a light to confirm that it is charging. I can't tell if it is doing anything. Thanx

If the power on the Palm is on, you should see a battery pictured at the top of your display (to the right of the clock). There will be a lightening bolt through it if it is charging.

BTW ebisix, where in Palmdale? We used to live in an apartment called Chaparral on 5th street west when we first got married. It was a long commute, but we split the difference between work and California City Skydive Center

all i see is a completely blank screen. I may be making a mistake by octopussing the power cord?

I live on the border of Palmdale, closer to Quartz Hill. Actually, I've never been down to 5th Street West.
Now, back to your problem. What do you mean by you see a blank screen. Will the unit turn on? Does is just display the Palm logo? Also, what are you saying by "octopussing the power cord?"
There is a known problem in some new m130 handhelds. You may need to try a hard reset if nothing is working. Sometimes even two hard resets are necessary.
