I just got a new laptop with no serial port, so to make my M105 work, I bought the USB to serial adaptor and installed the drivers. My new laptop has XP Home, while the old one used Windows 2000 professional. The Palm is not synching, even though my laptop is detecting the USB adaptor. The tech support at Palm has not been able to solve my problem. I'm using Palm Desktop 4.0.1. The tech support people say that another "incorrect" desktop version has not been completely removed from my system, but they offer no help to get it off...what can I do, besides throw this Palm out and get another one??? Please help!

I've gone through the same thing. Toshiba even gave me a new laptop thinking it was a bad mother board. Palm tech was NO help. They just dinged me for $25.00. Their name should be Tech Scam!! I have found no solution to the problem. I even bought a USB 2.0 CardBus adaptor trying to bypass the built in USB ports but that didn't do it either. I hope someone out there can possibly diagnose the problem. It's begining to sound like a motherboard "problem" with recognizing a Palm device. I wonder if anyone out there has a laptop and has NO problem hotsyncing?????????
