I just got a model SMC2632W wLAN card from SMC off of Diem's website (thanks for the guidance). I put it on the netBook, and can't get it to connect up. I'm completely confused why it won't work, and so I would like guidance on how to make it work. I have no clue which device I should select that will work with the card, and I have no clue what other information I need to input into the netBook. I used a Cisco Systems 340 wireless card before I used this one, but that was just to try it out.
I have a D-Link wireless Broadband Router which worked with the Cisco Systems 340, so I am completely baffled on why this isn't working.
I tried a hard reset, and still have had no luck so far. I've tried the Lucent WaveLan/Orinoco device setting, the Cisco device setting, almost everything that there is to try. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hi, just in case, have you bought the original 2632W card?
The original SMC2632W card (that works with netBook) looks like this:
http://www.smc-europe.com/english/support/driver_manual/wirel/download/2632/2632.tif
SMC2632W V.2 card (that doesn't work) looks like the original, except the model number on the label ("SMC2632W V.2" instead of "SMC2632W").
Newer SMC2632W V.3 card seems to have the different color:
(small, only 6kB) http://www.smc-europe.com/images/content/products/wireless/SMC2632WV3.jpg
(huge, 2.5MB) http://www.smc-europe.com/english/support/driver_manual/wirel/download/2632WV3/SMC2632W-V3.tif
Judging from the huge picture, unlike V.2 cards, it seems that the V.3 cards don't display the correct product number. Just "SMC2632W".
Best regards,
Keita

It seems that after all I did make a mistake. It WAS the V.3 after all!!!! Anyway, I returned it, and I now have a Cisco Aironet 340 PCMCIA card in the mail to me right at the moment. It's really hard to track those silly cards down. I searched all over, and had to settle for eBay. But hey, it's a new card.
It's kind of a good thing, to try some stuff and then be able to fall back on something stable. I first borrowed and tried an Intel PRO ethernet card, but little did I pay attention to it's being cardbus (I was a little overly obsessed at getting it to work). Then I tried the V.3 with absolutely NO success. Then, having previously tried the Cisco 340 with success, surfed, tracked down, and bought the card off of eBay.
But, I would have to say, that even on eBay they are in the few, since they are extinct. Oh well. Thanks for your help.

Above post moved to here as it made little sense in a thread on its own.
