My daughter's computer is running W2K. I couldn't get her M100 to sync with the serial connection so I purchase a serial to USB adapter. I have reinstalled the Palm desktop software to no avail. Does anyone have any idea how to configure this to work. The Palm is set to local (direct serial[it's only choice]) although it is a USB connection.

Download the latest version of the Desktop software (from palm website)... it will support USB better. I'm not sure that a serial to USB adapter will work with Palms... you may need a USB cradle, not sure though.

Yes, a serial to USB adapter will work with palms. Until recently, I owned the M100 and used a USB adapter when hotsyncing. One thing though is that it doesn't work all the time. I hate to say there were problems but it didn't necessarily work flawlessly all the time like the palms that use the USB cradle. Numerous times, I would have to reboot or reinstall.
