Is there a way to keep the I300 on while its on in the cradle? I know that some of the Palm devices allow this setting. I have the Big Clock and want to use it as a desktop clock, but my 300 keeps timing out. Thanks for the help!

Do you have a device password set? On other Palm PDAs, setting a device password prevents the unit from being on all the time, even if it is set to be ON in the cradle.

the i 300 has a special program just for this reason, if you change the code in the program and set the unit not to time out, it will kill the battery in only 4 hours ( i have tried to fix this in mine)
the phone contiues to run/search if it is "on" all the time. so in other words if the pda cant sleep, the phone cant sleep,
trust me, its a absoulte waste of time! (and battery life!)

Thanks Mac. Thats a concern and why I don't want to leave it on in general. I would only want the system to be on if its in the cradle (and running off of AC power).
As for the password, I have that turned off, but the system stills shuts down after 3 minutes. So I don't think thats it either...

The password has to be deleted, not just turned off. Give it a try.

Thanks John. I don't think I am doing this correctly though. I goto Security and it says that the password is currently assigned. I click on details and I have to enter the password. Then Details comes up. It says that the phone is unlocked. I don't want to hit reset, so the only other choice is Done. Done brings you back to the Security screen. If I hit the Assigned Field, it prompts for the password again, which I enter. Then it prompts for the new password. If I try just a null value, it error messages and says to make it four digits. If I hit delete, it says that the password is reset to the default value. It then goes back to the Security screen and the value of Password is still assigned. ??? Am I doing this correctly, or even in the right area? Thanks!

On my Prism, I go to Security,
tap "Assigned",
enter my password - a new screen comes up,
There is a button labeled "Delete" to delete the password, which really deletes the password.
Must be different on an I300. You might have to look in the manual.

there is no way of doing this like i said in my previous posting......the i300 has the platform of a m505 w/extra software for the phone....primairly the phone first , palm os second.
certain features/options had to be sacrificed for the phone.
like the timeout function!

Just wanted to followup here. In my original note, I wanted the I300 to stay on while it was in the cradle. I thought that this would make a great desktop clock. I was able to find a program to do what I was looking for. Its called ClockPro and its at all the software sites. It has an option to lock the display on, thereby making a desktop clock. This is a problem however if you take it off the cradle. The battery usually last four hours or less. This program also requires registration ($10) but it works. Thats all...

Have you seen SplashClock 1.04? It looks pretty nice too.

The default password is the last 4 digits of your cell phone.
