I have a Vx and a m515. I tried to beam an address from the Vx to the m515 and got the following message on the m515: "Data received in unknown format." Then I tried the other way around and that works. This is weird as the m515 is newer, right?
I bought the Palm OS 4 upgrade and installed it, both handhelds report the version as 4.1.

this is caused by the incompatability of both handhelds.
go to your desktop (for palm) and tap on the menu button. tap on info
then on the very bottom right hand side corner tap on version(s) and see what versions you have. Make sure whatever you are trying to beam over, are the same version. even if so, I think its because they are both in different encoding thats why but try it anyways maybe that will answer you question

There are three common reasons this happens:
1). You have some software trash, do a soft reset on both palms.
2). You are using "DualDate" on one of the Palms. If so uninstall and reinstall DualDate.
3). You have a third party app on one that reformats in fo to be beamed, if so go to the Palm Address book and beam.

PS: keep the two units about 6 inches or more apart.
