Hey fellow Tungsten users.

small background on me is that I used Psion for many years but due to lack of technology updates I traded for iPAQ half a year ago but now I've finally come to my senses and fallen in love with Palm Tungsten T. (I really liked the Psion series though)

However I have a small problem. I just today inherited a Nokia 6310i that Im now trying to "speak" to from the TT.
The TT askes for a Passkey when Im adding my phone.

Not for my life can I find this code anywhere in my manuals for the phone... Anyone have more use with BT than I do ?

Probably a very easy thing for the pro. user !

thanks beforehand...

THIS IS THE CODE WHICH YOU CAN MAKE UP YOURSELF

EXAMPLE: USE 0000 IN THE PHONE (WHEN ASKED)
AND USE 0000 IN THE TT (WHEN ASKED)

OR ANY OTHER CODE

SHOULD WORK...

GOOD LUCK

Hey ! Thanks for a quick reply.

However, i've tried most any code I can think of...
0000
1234
12345
nokia
6310

I even tried the elvish word for friend :)

I canīt find anywhere to set the code in the phone and all I get with any of the above codes is :
Unable To Add nokia 6310 to your trusted device list.

And on the phone i get "disconnected "tungsten""

Gaaaa...

one thing i've noticed with this 'pairing' process...its very fickle.

typically, during pairing...
1. you explore for BT devices (on T|T for ex)
2. when devices are discovered, you select which device to pair with
3. then, you're asked to enter the passcode on one device
4. then, you get a prompt to enter the same passcode on the other device (ie phone)
==> and that should be it...but

problem is, from what i've experienced (including other people's BT devices)...while entering the same passcode on the second device (step 4), both devices suddenly go whack and a message pops up saying that the other device is no longer available.

if in case you encounter this...i never found a workaround for this other than....don't give up!! <such a helpful tip i know > just keep trying to pair...over and over and over again. :D

by the way, you can enter different passcodes for different unique pairings.

I had the same problem with the sony 68i, my problem was that I was using the wrong driver the TT came with 68 and 68i drivers, and with the wrong driver the TT can find the device but can't connect to it, my problem was solved changing the driver, check if you are using the right driver, because sometimes they only change the "i" letter for example....

good luck!!

:D

Thanks for all the tips guys.

Im still no further to connecting though...

I've upgraded my TT with patch found on palm.com
I've tried both with and without the i on 6310...

And I never come as far as step 4 in the above mentioned "how to do". The phone says nothing what so ever until suddenly it goes "disconnected".

As soon as i pin the passkey on the TT it disconnects and says "unable to add..."

They find eachother however because they use names I created when refering to eachother...

Thanks again..

With nokia 6310, you can't makeup your own passkey. The passkey is a fixed number that is printed on the batterypack. Take the battery out of the phone and check for the number. This is the number that you put in to pair.
(This info is on the pdf document "getting started with the palm bluetooth card". If you look up on the palm homepage about the bluetooth card, you will find it.)
Good luck
Steven
(The T39 and T68 have a user interface for making up your passkeys but the Nokia6310 doesn't have.)

the 6310i however has its BT built-in and is passcode changeable for every pairing. the 6310 doesnt have it built-in so it needs the hardcoded passcode battery pack...

madness,
i understand your frustration...am also helping out a friend with the very same setup. pairing is a pain. but i stick with my original suggestion, just keep on trying to pair. insert a periodic soft reset on the T|T and off-on on the 6310i :) my friends going to try getting an upgrade on the 6310i code...will let you know if it'll help any.
