Hi guys, this is my first post here so I'm sorry if this is something that is too easy for you guys or a horse that has already been laid to rest, but I have a question. I have been using my Palm m130 for about two months now with the Palm desktop. I have decided that instead of the desktop I would like to use Outlook. I have outlook set up to with a IMAP e-mail account. My question is, how do I go about changing my set-up from syncing with Palm Desktop to syncing with Outlook. I have never synced e-mail before, but I understand that this should be possible, right? I have heard that you need something called Pocketmirror or something like that. Is that included on the cd's or do I need to buy that? I hope you guys can help me out.

To correct the last reply the Pocketmirror program is found on the Palmdesktop install cd ..
to access it what you will need to do is load the cd into the computer, it should autorun a "splash" screen wanting you to install the Palm Desktop exit that
then doulbe click on my computer
right click on the cd rom drive that should be labled "Palm Desktop"
left click on explore
then you should see about 5 folders
opend the "palm desktop" folder
and then you should see a "pocketmirror" folder listed
open that and to setup.exe file will be listed there along with other files you don't need to worry about
doulbe click on the setup.exe file and go thru the install ..
now this will make the unit sync in full to outlook being with your outlook contacts, notes etc .
Now if you only want to sync you "email" from outlook what will want to do is click on the hotsync manager icon in the system tray by the clock of the computer go to custom and you may have mail option listed (if you do set that up for outlook 97 or higher form the list) if you don't have the mail option listed this is where you need the bonus software cd and you will need to install the
"hotsync mail" program and its pretty much stright forward .
if needed contact palm support and they should be able to walk you thru this being that you are still within you 90 days of free tech support .
hope this helped out a bit

I won't even try typing your name, but good job. That is the most thorough description I have ever seen anybody write, including Palm Tech support.

Thank you very much. That should help me take care of things, :D One more question and then I will be set. Do I have to un-install Palm Desktop or can I leave it as is? The reason I ask is that the desktop has some menu items, like install and archive, that Outlook doesn't have.

You will need to keep Palm Desktop installed for anything to work.
thats what gives you the "Hotsync" Manager which allows the sync to go through , ---
if any other questions just leave a post . and i should respond within a few days !
