I've heard of this problem with EPOCDOS before, and yes, you do need a reg code to get rid of the nags, even though it is freeware. Bear with me, I'll see what I can find out.

thank you so much, i really appreciate that :)
i just had a look at that link in your post too, i'll see if i can make it in the chatroom on sunday :)
i personally love command line interfaces (i dunno what it is, i guess it's the retro thing!) and when i saw that you could get one for EPOC i was like "woah!" but when i ran it i was disappointed by the constant reminders after you run a command.
if you can find me a reg code, i'd be eternally grateful!
:)
thanks again

I've edited the title of this thread, because it sounded as if it could be an illegal request for a reg code, which of course it is not. :)

thanks :)
sorry, i didn't mean it to sound illegal
it was the only way i could word it at the time!
:)
just for those out there that don't know, epocdos is FREEWARE but requires a FREE registration code to disable the constant "don't forget to register" reminder
(the author put a registration function in it so he could track it's use, but the author is unattainable)

Hi oscillik
I'm still waiting for an answer on EPOCDOS, but you might like to try EShell as an alternative. Copy attached. :)

FWIW, I found this email address on Gavin Lewarne's web site, http://www.geocities.com/siliconvalley/5111/ (though the web site shows last update about 4.5 years ago!) - it might be worth giving it a try...

Good luck

Hi,
Equally for what it's worth, I wanted to reach Gavin a couple of years ago but I found out he was very sick then.
I was told by someone connected with RevTran, if that helps.

It's an extremely long shot but you could ask Jon Read (jon@epoczone.com) who was also, I think, at Plymouth university. You never know ... two Psion developers at the same university ... they might have known each other and still be in touch.

Hi,
I expect those who want to know will already know but the good news is that Gavin Lewarne is back (and has been for a while). The new version of EpocDOS, which doesn't need registering, is on TUCOWS (I haven't looked at PsionPlace yet).
