Hi,

I have just installed Windows 98 (from scratch) and Psiwin 2.1, and I cannot make a connection with my Psion 3a at all. It used to work fine with Windows 95. Do I need a different version of Psiwin or something?

Thanks for any advice,

Mary

Some users have found Windows 98 to be problematical with PsiWin, although I haven't generally had problems with version 2.3.1

The exception is trying to connect to my Siena and here I have had no success. I don't actually have a 3a to be able to test that.

It might be worth trying the latest version of PsiWin - 2.3.3 - which can be downloaded from Psion's website although, if you don't have a fast connection, it is a big download at 25Mbytes. If you want me to put a copy on a CD, send me a private message with your postal address and I can send it to you.

I run PsiWin 2.3.1 with my Psion 3a, and to be honest I haven't had any problems running it.
I found that if you install it and then connect the Psion and open the Link, then start the PsiWin using "PsiWin 2.3 Connection Server" then Windows usually finds the machine. Although I have the 3Link connected to Com 1 port I let it seasrch both Com 1 and Com 2 ports which seems to work well for me.
This may not be the correct way to do it, but it works for me, perhaps it may work for you.

Ian,
I run PsiWin 2.3.1 with my Psion 3a, and to be honest I haven't had any problems running it. Which version of Windows are you using?

I run Windows 98 SE. But I have ran PsiWin 2.3.1 with the original windows 98 without any problems.
