When I check the info on my Palm, it shows two entries, a 0040 and a 0041. Now does anyone know what they do? I'm not too concerned with them because they are only 2K each so they aren't memory hogs -- I'm just curious at what they are there for. Thanks.

Schiffi,

I have been through 4 Palm upgrades and the entries don't ring a bell...are they email attachments?

If not, you most likely you have loaded a program to try and they might be "leftovers" after you deleted the program. I don't think they are part of your operating system. Often "bits" of programs can get left in your memory after you have deleted the program from the Palm's delete function.

I suggest installing filez (www.nosleep.net) as a file manager. It's freeware and does a great job of informing you of just what is stored on your internal & external memory. You can move, copy, edit, back-up, delete, etc... with Filez. You should be able to see the files in question and look at their detail (are they database, when they were installed, etc...). When I delete programs I seldom use the Palm's delete function, I'll use the delete option within Filez.

This will help you determine if they can be deleted without the worry of loosing program information you want to keep.

Hope this helps.

I used Filez and it says that it was created by an App called SLEC. Anyway to find out entire program name? I didn't delet it, yet.

Not sure what SLEC is.

Try moving the files to your card with Filez. Then open programs from your handheld's internal memory. If everything works fine then you most likely don't need the files.

You can always leave them on your external card if you find you need the files at a later date.

Good luck.
