Forgive a naive question:I have a Series 7, which Inormally use either stand-alone or connected (using a Psion Gold Card) to my ISPusing dial-up.

Ioccasionally go to meetings (which I chair), and have my laptop connected to the video projector, so everything on the screen is visible to everyone in the meeting. It would be very handy to be able to use my Series 7 to exchange messages on the local chat server with colleagues, without displaying them to the whole meeting! Ihave a WLANcard (Orinoco Silver), and lokking at the posts on this forum I wondered whether it would be reasonable to expect to use the Series 7 with the WLANcard to access the WLAN...

Any help would be much appreciated!

I'm afraid not. A Series 7 can just about manage wired ethernet support, using the pretty shaky alpha-release drivers from a couple of years ago, but no wireless drivers were ever released for Series 7 and it is now no longer supported.

Sorry :(

Thanks Yan - I suspected that might be the case... However the wired LANdrivers might be worth trying, because Ialso have a wired LAN(Xircom) card, and being at the top table there's a fighting chance Icould get within a cat 5 cable's length of the ethernet hub which connects the WLANaccess point to the server. Could you point me in the direction of the flaky alpha drivers please, then Ican download them and give them a whirl - nothing ventured, nothing gained!

Ididn't mention it in my previous post, but it's not worth my thinking of trading up to a Netbook, because there's only one meore meeting which Ihave to chair before Iretire. When I'm not chairing, somebody else has to project from his laptop, so Ican use mine for the chat :)

Best regards

So there are no wireless options for the series 7? I was thinking of buying one but I wont bother if there is no Wifi option.

Nope - the 7 won't do wireless. But search these forums for posts about the MalayBook - its a netBook whose OS cannot be upgraded, and you can get hold of one for less than £200 at www.sitashop.com ...
