I've seen postings that NetStatRF is and is not available as a separate download. It is not available on the OS version that comes with mBook and I'd like to add it (if it's compatible). If it was available for a time (apart from the newer OSs), does anyone have a copy?

It definitely used to be available in the Teklogix Partner program download area (in the netPad area perversely enough). Opera, nFTP etc. are all still there, but NetStatRF has gone

I'll check my archive at home and see if I've still got the standalone .SIS file.

If you can read French, Spanish or German, then the per-language 'Optional Components' downloads include it in the netBook downloads area.

I have this wrong - the NetStatRF included in the 'Optional Components' downloads is in English!

Maybe I dreamt it

I've attached a zip file containing the content of my Z:\System\Apps\NetStatRF folder. Create one similarly on C, bung the content of the zip file in it, and see if it runs..

Don't bother downloading this attachment - it will not run from the C drive. See Hochi's post lower down the thread for a download location for a usable version.

thanks for the boost on these files. one more little "nudge" is needed? I get a "corrupt" message after unzipping and copying to C:\SYSTEM\APPS\NETSTATRF, which I'd set up. I've copied them three times and no change in the error message. I had to uncheck the "read only" box to delete the"corrupt" files. The app did appear on the Extras Bar. I see that others downloaded this file and I'm wondering what I have done wrong.

Hmm, may not be your fault - I will try running them from my C drive - I'll post back tonight.

Okay, I've tried downloading the zip direct to my netBook and bunging its contents in an app folder on C, and it works okay (by tapping the Extras icon or by double-tapping the .app file in the folder). However I have of course still got the original on my Z drive 'behind' it, so to speak.

What's in my mind is that the app will have been compiled to copy itself to RAM before running, and there may be problems with running this type of app direct off the C drive. Any else have any joy on a 7/7Book/MBook?

Hi,

diem is rigth, you can't use software from the ROM in RAM on another Psion. The ROM-Software was specially compiled and runs direktly from the ROM. Epoc won't copy the file into RAM just to run it. But if you install software on the C or D drive axactly this is necessary.
Is this clear enough?? Hope so.

But don't be to disappointed, it is still avaiable, but Psion Teklogix hide it a bit.

- register and log in the psion partner website from teklogix
- go for netbook
- look at the os downloads
- choose the optional components of a language of your choice
- netstatrf.sis is included

and yes it's a english language only program.

hope this helps,
Sebi

I downloaded it from the French options pack - installed it - and it works a treat!

Many thanks to all for the advice!
