I have a Jornada 720 that has been used heavilly and continuously for the past 2 years, but not subject to harsh environment or rough treatment.
The top edge of the screen (which is, of course, where all your menu bars in any program appear) has begun to lose its sensitivity. You tap all you want, but nothing. No response. (Navigation with the windows and arrow keys works fine.) This is also true of the "Settings" Hard Icon in the upper right hand corner. No response to tapping with stylus.
I have tried all the obvious ideas that come to mind:
- fully charge the main battery
- insert fresh, fully charged backup battery
- (repeated) soft resets
- recalibrate touch screen
- recalibrate "tap" interval
Is there some other fix that folks might recommend, or should I resign myself to the possibility that, after two years of heavy use, it is just wearing out and I maybe should consider a replacement PDA?
