Beamed Category, Can I Prevent Duplicate Records?

I beamed all my addresses from my PALM M105 to my new PALM M500, and I did it a second time (don't ask ...) and obviously I now have 2 copies of each address record...!
when you import via beaming, isn't there anyway not to allow duplication of records?

I am dreading having to delete the duplicated addresses one by one.
