Hi, I just bought an IPAQ 1910. I installed outlook 2000, then tried to install active sync 3.6. Once the install wizard starts, it tells me that I need to install TCP/IP. My TCP/IP is fine as I'm on the internet now using my cable modem. Comcast is my ISP.
I contacted Compaq/HP. We removed and reinstalled my TCP/IP and I could successfully load active sync, and sync my 1910. The trouble is that I could no longer get on the internet. My ISP could ping me, so my hardware was/is OK. I could ping yahoo using their ip address, but not with their url. My ISP suggested that my winsock was corrupted and Compaq should fix it. With the help of Compaq support, we repaired the winsock, but it did no good. I could only restore my internet connection by restoring my registry from several days ago. Now I'm on the internet, but I can't install active sync. Guess what...it says that I need to install TCP/IP. I'm running Windows ME on a HP pavilion, 1 ghz athlon.
Has anyone heard of anything like this? Can anyone help?
Thanks
