Jornada 728 Internet Problem

Have a Jornada 728 (new). Unable to check mail on Earthlink or HP Test. Get a "POP3 server not found" message. HAs anyone been able to get one of these things to work?

The default setting in HP Dialup is to have the box for "Use proxy server" checked in the Web Service tab. Is that box unchecked? It should be for most dial up connections.
