Problem updating to 3.5

I recently acquired a Vx with 3.3 and I want to update the software to the latest. I've heard the 4.1 isn't worth the price, so I was just going to update to 3.5.xx I understand to start I need to update to 3.5 so I downloaded the updated from palm.com The setup installed the older desktop, I had 4 and now its 3.1 and it says I need to hot-sync, click reset and then next should become available. Well it never becomes available. I've waited an hour and nothing happens. I didn't think I could install the 3.5.xx until i had 3.5, so I don't know what to do now. I have a few apps I'd like to install, I assume they're not that difficult to do, just wanted to have the latest OS before I did anything else.

THe Palm Vx upgrade to 3.5.5OS is accomplished with a Patch from Palm. THe Desktop version is not relevant. YOu should go back to the Palm.com site and get both.
