Anyone know what could be the reason my m130 is not recharging even though the lightning bolt icon is showing??

What happened was that someone had replaced the casing yesterday but as a result he had problems getting the battery up and running, so he replaced it with another one. And this one won't recharge. So he is ordering another battery, but for now I want to try to resolve this myself!

I've tried every method of resets and they still don't work (hard reset, warm reset, soft reset).
I tried using my cradle as well as a travel charger, and in both instances the lightning bolt shows up on the Palm but it does not charge.

If I unplug the AC Adaptor from the cradle while the Palm is in it (and the cradle is plugged to the USB port of my PC), the lightning bolt goes away. So the Palm does detect the power supply.

Maybe the battery meter is screwed up and it really is charging?? If I play games or do some other stuff on my Palm, the meter does go down though.

You know what, I actually did that the night before, and after posting that message, I turned it on and it went up from 65% to 97%! But it wouldnt recharge like normal after that. I also left it charging overnight last night, but I dont see the battery meter changing. It's at 81% now.

When the m130 is charging in the cradle, it will not actually show what the battery is at. You need to remove it from the cradle to see the progress. I'm not quite sure if this is what you were asking though.

Hi Everyone,

I am not sure this could be the problem or not. I suspect not, but thought I would mentnion it in the event it might help someone reading this. I also had problems with my 125 and 130 not wanting to charge all the time.

I found that the pins on the stand were just slightly bent. Due to this the Palm would not charge. I do not recall if the battery had a lightning bolt through it then or not.

I managed to line the pins up well enough so that the stand is not making a good connection to the 130 and 125 all the time.

Also, if this does happen to be the problem and your still within your warranty Palm will send a new stand out to you right away and they do not even ask for the old one back. I had my new stand three days after I called Palm Support on the phone...super customer service.

Cheers!

Well i've tried it with two different chargers so i dont think both of them have bad pins ;-) And it was working before. Maybe the Palm itself has something wrogn in the recharge circuit. And yeah i do wait after turning it on to see if the percentage changed (I use LauncherIII to view that info). I've had it on a lot during the day and it doesnt go up after taking it out of the cradle in the morning.

Darn,

Kind of sounds like a problem requiring repair. May be the charging circuit or even the battery.

Good luck...
