I know that while signed up under the PCS Vision service we do not have access to Hotmail webmail service using the supplied setup (Blazer, PCS Vision web site, Etc..).

However, I was wondering if it were possible to access your Hotmail account using an older browser (like on the i300) that is strictly .WAP, and possibly allowing us to view our account like we were able to under the older PCS web service from Sprint? Or, is there no way of accessing Hotmail while under PCS Vision? In other words, are there some network settings that will prevent access to Hotmail if we are signed in through PCS Vision regardless of what we try.

Thanks in advance.

Best Regards,

Jason

MSN does not use a POP3 mail server protocol, rather, it uses an HTTP protocol. Even tho their server names are pop3.email.msn.com & smpt.emal.msn.com they will not talk to POP3 mail applications like Eudora.

Until this changes or until a mail client supports MSN's protocol you will not be able to directly get e-mail from MSN. However, if you bought a Pocket PC that runs Microsoft's CE operating system - you could get your MSN mail.

Don't feel too bad, you can't directly get AOL's mail either without AOL's mail client.

Oh well....

Thank you for your response.

Yes, I realize that MSN does not work with a POP3 server due to it being an HTTP type service, unfortunately that isn't the reason. We were able to communicate with our Hotmail account through the old web from PCS, granted it was text only, but at least we could still access our accounts. Its more of a network setting or Sprint PCS lack of agreement that has shut us out. It's a shame that we can't do the same things on the supposedly "upgraded" service. I thought that when you upgrade a service or product you add features, not take them away. Unfortunately, I had to resort to using Gopher King to access my Hotmail while away. Don't get me wrong, Gopher King is a nice service, but we shouldn't have to pay for something that is already free.

Maybe one day Sprint PCS will wake up...Nah!..probably not.
