DV3 Synchronization Failed Time Out

Any time I run Smart Sync on My Davinci DV3, I receive a Synchronization Failed, Time out error. I know that the device is talking with my computer because when I run the Smart Sync from the PDA, the program shows an active file transfer on my computer. Anybody have any ideas?

My DV3 would not sync either.
Fortunately a friend checked out the individual output of each pin and found the DV3 was WAY OUT of specs for i/o. He built a small device that fit between the PC serial port and the cradle connection that changed the signal to it's prescripted value. It was custom built. It's ugly. But it's on the the backside of the PC so I don't have to see it. And it syncs beautifully every time.

If you're gonna keep using the DV3 I could forward your email address to him for more info. I'm a complete "user" in that I know how to use computers but know absolutely nothing about how they work. Don't want to. But he's great and would share info with you if you'd like it.

I've since bought a Pocket PC, the ViewSonic V35 because the DV3 display was just to hard to read. The V35 is brilliant in comparison. Does all the usual PDA things plus lots more and it's under $300.
