Ring Loudness (lack thereof)

I have the Siemens SX56 through AT&T. I love the unit and have had next to no problems, EXCEPT, I can't hear the darned thing ring if I'm anywhere but in a library. Am I missing something?

I've cranked the volume control and tried just about every ringtone I can, its just not loud enough. Is ther anyway to crank it up beyond the internal controls?

I have a T-mobile version of the PPC PE, which is the exact same hardware as your AT&T PPC PE. I found one sound and one sound only, which I can hear while driving with my windows open and the radio on at the same time. the "Roaring Guitar". Try that one. Another way to fix the problem is to download other ring tones that are loud. Those are the only two ways I know how. The default sounds that come with the PPC PE seem to be too low in ring volume to me too, except the Roaring Guitar.
This is just a tiny, little problem...... compared to the happiness this little machine brings me. I love it! Hope you can enjoy it too. Good luck!

Thanks. I agree that the issue is tiny compared to the overall appeal and usability. Its a great machine. I have tried roaring guitar and I can hear it but, as an attorney I get pretty funny looks in court and meetings when it goes off. I'll keep looking for another loud one and post any promising results.

there is a free ring tone download website that is mentioned in the cd that came with the phone. i believe it's www.microsoft.com/mobile/pocketpc/downloads/default.asp
some ringtones are free. other ringtones must be purchased. i'm sure you'll find one. keep digging. :D
