Just purchased my first PDA specifically for keeping a record of all my family's past medical history, project history, prior events and when they occured, etc. Not so interested in using it to remind me of current appointments but as a record of who I saw when or what I did when, with the ability of sorting the information in various ways (i.e. sometimes by date, sometimes by type of event, sometimes by member of family) and also by a specific need (i.e. prescriptions taken, doctor's visited, when Suzie 1st started her dance lessons, when I completed putting in the waterfall, finishing the basement, etc.) Since I want to go back five years or more, I'll have a lot of past data to enter.

1. Should I use one of the applications that came with the PDA ?
2. If so, which one?
3. What would be the fastest and easiest way to enter data?
4. Is there a different software application that would suit my needs better?

Since I have lots of data to input I would like a program that I can use on the computer desktop to enter the info into and then hotsync it to the PDA. A program that only has entry from the PDA wouldn't be functional. Also I'd like to be able to sort the records in more than one way (i.e. Doctor visits but only for Suzie, or doctor visits but just for foot problems, etc.) Any comments or suggestions would be helpful and very appreciated

It seems to me that you would be better off to start by thinking about what software you would like to use on the PC, and then figure out a way to get the data onto the handheld.

Personally, I suspect that it looks like you have an Access application on the PC, possible one with several different tables within the database. If that is the way you plan to approach it, then you could simply export the data over to HanDBase once you have the basic structure setup. I believe it is HanDBase Professional 3.0 that has an Access import engine attached to it

I use thinkDB as my database, works great, has a desktop companion along with import/export ability.

Have a look at Universal Tracking System at www.utracksys.com
Several examples of tracking with UTS are at
