This will be my first, last, and only post to the 'new and improved PPCCity forum:

Quotes are from James (administrator) as posted in the New Forum Announcement at the top of the PocketPC City Forum. My responses follow each quote:

> We at PDAStreet are sorry to hear that so many of you are disappointed in the new message board.

We (the users) are sorry to see the old board (and the wealth of information it contained) ransacked without warning or consultation. The town mayor who decides to arbitrarily move all town folks into a few large buildings and demolish their homes because the city can't maintain the roads will quickly be out of a job. The townsfolk will start a new town with different leadership, and the old mayor will have several large, empty buildings.

> It is not our intention to alienate users, but to offer an improved forum in which all types of PDA users can help each other.

Please understand that your concept of improvement may not be universally shared. An enviroment where a Toshiba e310 user asks a question that is lost in the din of hundreds of ipaq, jornada, etc. posts is NOT an improvement. That user may stand a chance unless his/her post somehow draws the attention from an appropriate (specific) audience. As a question in the Omni, and unless someone next to you hears you, you may not get an answer.

> We feel this will bear itself out in the long run, as people get used to the new software and the forum has time to get on its feet.

If everyone leaves (read the posts...), the forums will NEVER get on it's feet.

> The way the forum was setup before made it unwieldy and impossible to manage effectively.

We resist change. We abhor loss (information archive). We will not tolerate being ignored.

> Though some users found it helpful to have individual boards for different PDAs and topics, the number of boards on the site ballooned to well over a 100.

ALL users found in it helpful. If 'balloning' is a problem, use some of the ad revenue to increase capacity. Helpful is now a misnomer for this board, as all the useful content is GONE.

> A lot of good information never reached many of the users who may have found it helpful and too many inappropriate posts made it through the cracks.

The good information will now NEVER reach the users. Until it is recreated (by the same generous folks who posted the first time), it is LOST. I hope for your sake they are generous enough to recreate it HERE, and not on some other -startup- board.

> In the future, we plan on adding sub-forums to the site as the need arises, but not nearly at the same pace as was done previously.

If you intend to add them, add them NOW!!!!! The need is here. Listen to the masses, and understand that the choices made were wrong, according to your users. If you are unable, for whatever reason, it is truly regrettable, as I am not optimistic for the future success of this website

> I hope you give the new forum a chance.

I hope you read the writing on the wall......

> Thanks for your support

Support us by listening, and acting before it is too late. Thank you.

Sincerely,
