I can't seem to find how to hard reset my clie, I know how to soft reset and tried it to resolve my problem of the left top quadrant not responding to the tapping, but dragging ok. Someone suggested that I try the hard reset but I can't find the instructions. Please help! or if you have the same problem with tapping an area, I would appreciate any suggestions or resolutions. I have tried to digitize to no avail.

Hey, I don't know a ton about clie resets, but in general, all you have to do is press the reset while holding down the power button and then hit the up button(it's actually not so bad once you get the hang of it, just try several combinations of that), it's like that with palms and visors. Watchout! It will erase all of you memory and reset everything, back it up first(I would generally recommend backup buddy, found at most pda sites, i.e. http:/www.palmgear.com/).

Hope that helps;)

Have no idea were the reset location is on the Clie. It is on the back of a Palm and it is marked "Reset." Here is the Hard Reset Process:(this will erase all of your data!)Hold down the Power on button. At the same time poke the reset pin in the reset hole. Remove the reset pin continue for 10 to 15 seconds to hold the Power on down. Let the power button go. You should see a screen offering to remove all of your data if you push the scroll up button. Say Yes and you have done the Hard Reset.

Thank you for all your help,
The hard reset did work but it did not ask if I wanted to lose the data. I had backed it up on the MS so that was not a problem. However, my problem with the inability to tap an area of the screen is still with me. Could it be something wrong with the unit?

When the hard reset works correctly and you are ask to erase all data when that process is complete you should be shown the "Welcome" application. THe welcome app allows you to set the digitizer manually by tapping on the targets.
Digitizer problems can be software and they can be mecahnical. If software your problems may respond to one of the following:
"AutoDigi2", SureTap and DigiFix. They should all be on PalmGear.com. Download one and hotsync it to the SONY and then do a softreset. Hope this helps. If it fails then the issue is probably hardware related. As a test try tapping the Sony on its left side on a table top, check it, then on the right side. Just a moderate but firm tap.
