Problem with restore

Hello all.

I recently received a new iPaq 3835 via the CarePaq program. I have been trying to restore the old backup file to the new unit. However, I keep getting an error saying that the new device is not the same model as the device that the backup file was created by. Of course, they are the same model.

The only ROM updates that I have done on the old model are EUU2 and "scratch fix", so I installed these on the new unit. Restore still doesn't work. When I go to Asset viewer,-->version, all the information is exactly the same on the two units. When I do a soft reset, both units have the same version # (1.15) in the corner.

How can I restore this unit? The idea of manually transfering all my files and reinstalling all my programs sounds terrible.

Thanks so much!! I just downloaded and used that program and the restore is now in progress.


The frustrating thing is that I called Compaq tech support and also emailed them twice and was given advice that didn't work. Eventually, I was told (both by phone and email) that the problem couldn't be solved. You'd think that their own people would be familiar with the patches available for their own products on their own website. Pretty poor customer service.

I'm so glad I posted here and to another board where I got the same information. Saved me a lot of time/aggravation.
