I get a message that tells me that " The connection between your handheld computer and the desktop could not be established. Please check your setup and please continue." I am at a loss, I performed a soft reset, and no go. Friday night I did a hotsync, and everything was fine. I dropped the palm from about a foot or so the next evening, and so I think in lies the problem. The palm works great other than hotsyncing. Any help would be great. Thanks.

It may well be an issue with the Palm but somehow I doubt that.
Try uninstalling the Palm Desktop. Replace it with a clean down load from Palm.com of the new Desktop 4.1.

I decided to try one last thing before a new download and that was to go into the Palm help website and they suggested to go into hotsync, into settings and try the different com managers until one worked, and it worked. The drop must have reconfiguired the systen somehow??? Thank you for your help though

I am experiencing the same problem again. I then tried your suggestion of uninstalling the palm hardware and redownloading the palm software. I cant seem to get this fixed as my computer tells me that sycronization has failed. I have tried a few diffrent resets and am at a loss as to what to do.

Is there a COM port problem in the PC? Check both the PC BIOS and Windows.

The statement I get on my palm is that " The connection between your handheald computer and the desktop could not be established. Please check your setup and try again. I mixed up my palm with a co-orkers and hit hotsync, and have had problems since. I am wondering if his handheld has a problem. I tried to hotsync on his cradle and with his palm and it didnt work. I fooled with his system, and it works fine now????I dont know what I did to replicate it on my system. Thanks

Am I understanding you to say that you started to sync some one elses Vx with your PC? But thent now the problem has been corrected? The HotSync bytes that hold the date and time of the last Sync may have been left in an unreadable fashion on the Palm or the PC.
Just for future reference I am going to post a link below that may offer some help for you.
