I found a solution to use an external antenna with the TREO270.
This can be useful if you have an area of bad reception.
My antenna is 3 m (I hope you know what the m stand for.) above my home office. The reception improved from 0-1 bar in the display to 3 bars.

interesting. Could you tell us what you are using and how you set it up, or give us a URL to look at? I have a little electrical engineering background, but not enough to automatically know how you have everything done.

BTW, I'm a big fan of the metric system, which uses meters. However, for those Americans who wish to stay to our crazy measuring system, 3 meters is approximately 10 feet.

I have a PDF file (94kB) available with the description.
Please tell me where I should send it too.

put it in a zip file and post it here on the message board. The attach file is below the Options menu in the reply dialog box.g

Hello,

I just found a Treo solution that looks easier to install. It is an antenna collar. Take a look at http://www.criterioncellular.com/html/cellular-antenna-adapter-1.html

Sincerely,
Dennis Faucher.

Hello,

Unfortunately, it was easy to install, but did not work. The company reported a 50% success rate and will probably take the product off the market.

The first time I used it I had turned the connector a bit too strong and the connector broke off the printed circuit board.
I thought I was just too strong and soldered it together again.
May be that is the same what happened to you.
