Hi,

I have been a Psion user for years. Loved the 3A and like the 5mx. Just out of the blue the resident "pen" won't stay in it's slot. Seems like a spring is broken. Who fixes these machines these days. Psion says it will take $160 US and weeks to fix. Yuck.

Thanks

There is a little trick which could fix this problem if you are lucky. There may not be anything actually broken.

Open up the cover over the RS232 port at the back of the machine (where the PsiWin cable connects). With a thumbnail GENTLY press down on the lip of the case, below the connector. Hopefully the mechanism which holds the stylus should click back into place.

I hope it works! :)

Hi Julie,

Thanks! For some reason, known only to you and those who've figured this out ..... IT WORKED:-)

I used the "non-writing" end of the stylus and when I heard the slight "click" as I gently pressed, I quit pressing, slid the stylus in and she "clicked" right in, like seated on the Throne!

Thanks for the help,

Ralph R.

It is also in the 5mx manual, page 187 :)
