Alrighty, I've just bought a Nino 500 from a person for about 25 bucks. It seemed to be a pretty good deal, and it is. Though I'm having a few problums.

I'm trying to connect the Nino to my comp. I don't have any of the software that came with it, as it would seem the other person either lost it or never had it, either way, I wasn't fortunate to recive it.

I've spent the past couple of days looking for files, and downloading them to see if I can get my PDA to connect. There are a few things that I'm hopeing to get help on or related.

My Desktop (both of them) Are running Windows 98 SE. I just updated one of them all the windows updates, nothing changed. I've tried three diffrent programs to try and connect to the PDA, Activesync 3.6, Activesync 3.5, and Windows CE services 2.2. No luck. I've tried fiddling with the baud rates on both the computer and the PDA. I've tried connecting to both computers, using both com 1 and com 2 ports on both PC's.

What is going on, is that it would seem that there is information being sent. When I try and connect the Desktop to the PDA, the PDA begins its connection program. This tells me that they are sending information to each other. But they aren't connecting. Sort of like two deaf people yelling at each other.

I'm not to sure of what to do now. Either I need the CD's or there is something amiss.

Any sort of help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Here are some ideas from my experience...

If your Nino is not DOA, and the docking station is working correctly, you should be able to connect with your PC using ActiveSync. but you may have to configure Activesync a little first. Under File..Connection Settings make sure the port you are using is checked.

If it is connecting for the first time you shuld be asked to create a new partnership. Your Nino has been given an identity (which I think you can change) in its system settings. That should be the name of the new partnership. If you already have two partnerships defined in ActiveSync, you may need to delete one to work with the Nino - check ActiveSync support on the web.

Good luck.

Oh, nerp.

I was very recently able to fix my problum. In fact it was quite simply. The connnection prongs on the cradle were pushed down, at least a few of them. as a result not all the prongs were making contact. Which in turn affected the fact that I couldn't connect.

That was fixed, and now things are working perfectly.

Though Thank you for replying non of the less. I appreciate it greatly. ^_^

I was interested in seeing your travails in getting your Nino 500 PDA to connect via Active Sync. I would like to be able to this with my Nino 200 but I have not got a serial cable. You have seen a spare one in your travels. I would be certainly intersted in buying one if you can get hands onto one.

I can't say I have one for offer, really. I've only got the cradle. I could suggest a local RadioShack if you have anthing of the sort around your area. If not I'm sure that some of the electronic stores would of something of the sort, But you have an older model, don't take it from me, but I don't know if you thing has a cable out there can work with it. But I'm no PDA expert. *shrugs* Sorry, Can't really help you out in that deparment.
