I travel with MC218. Office and home PCs have PsiWin installed and cables waiting to plug in. No problem.
What about other computers with no PsiWin and cable?
I have yet to come across a computer or a printer that just happens to have IR port. Maybe it's a Europe thing?
Most of my data is on a flash card in the D drive. I have tried inserting the card into a reader and get pages of code in gobledygook and then painstaking reformatting. Is it possible to instal PsiWin on the D drive and convert files on that drive to download via a reader to another computer?
Alternately, there are nifty little storage devices that plug into USB ports. Any way of hooking up such a device to the Psion?
Thanks,
David

David,
Installing PsiWin on another computer other than your own is probably out of the question. A better answer is to first get nConvert from www.neuon.com. This will convert most Psion format files to PC format files right on your Psion. Next, get one of the USB flash card readers that you refered to. These can be used on any PC with either no additional software or a driver that comes on a 3.5 floppy.
Using nConvert, convert the Psion file to the type of PC file you want to use. Save this file to your compact flash card. Take out the compact flash card and insert it into your USB flash card reader and plug it into a USB port on the PC. You can then copy the converted file to the PC and use it there. When you're done, you just reverse the process.

Thank you, Jim. I downloaded the utility and converted a file. Now I'm looking for someone else's computer that has a media reader built in. The ads say that new computers have this available as an option. Maybe I should simply purchase a portable media reader that can be plugged in to a port. USB? Serial?
I looked down the list of Nueon offerings. Most are far beyond my needs or capabilities but one caught my attention. Theslink. Does the Psion have a thesaurus? Or does Theslink come with its own thesaurus that can be linked into word?
In continuing amazement,
David

David,
Some of the newer computers do have a multi-card reader built-in but I wouldn't count on this. It's best to purchase your own card reader. All the card readers that I've seen use a USB port, not serial.
The Psion does indeed have a Thesaurus. It's part of the Spell program. If you open Spell, go to Tools and you'll see Thesaurus. ThesLink offers an easier way to get to the thesarus from Word.
