Can anyone tell me how to convert MS Word files (on my PC) to files readable on E-book (on a Psion 5Mx)?
Sorry if I sound like a newbie to this (that's 'cos I am :) ) but do I need a program, or can I save it in a certain Word format (e.g. text only)?
And ... if I need a program, can anyone recommend a good one.
Thanks
Tam
So far as I know, there is no way to directly convert an MS Word doc to a Palm DOC format.
If you save the doc as text, then you can use the Utilities supplied at the eBook for EPOC site (http://www.geocities.com/ebookepoc/utilities.html) to convert from text to DOC format - note that in converting from Word doc to text you will of course lose all your formatting.

Diem actually hit on one of the solutions already. eBook for EPOC will read basic text files without any trouble. In MS Word, save the file as a TXT file, and transfer it to the psion, eBook will open it. I do it all the time on my 7Book.
If you really want the space-saving doc format, there used to be a MS Word macro that would convert a file to doc (that's Palm Doc or Aportis Doc - confusing, isn't it?) format. Actually, having just done a google search, I found two macros that do the conversion - but it should be noted that they both require Word 97 or 2k, no mention of XP. Anyway, here are the links I found:

As Diem points out, you will lose your formatting. One alternative would be to use MSWord to save the file as HTML and read it in Web or Opera.
Hope this helps!

Mobipocket Office Companion on the PC side (to convert M$ Documents in Mobipocket format) and Mobipocket Reader on your PDA to read them.
Moreover, Mobipocket Reader does not only work on Psion, but on nearly all PDAs currently on the market (including Sony Ericsson P800 and Nokia 7650/3650).
You can have a look at http://www.mobipocket.com
BTW, you can find a lot of eBooks ("Cats & Mouse", "1st to die", "The Hades Factor", but also StarWars) and dictionaries (Oxford, PONS, Merriam Webster) on this website.
