I guess I'll have the first post in this forum, and it's a question:

I downloaded the program called "Pilot Net" and also installed EudoraWeb on my m100. I want to connect to my MSN internet account but I need to create a script for it. I have no idea what I should put on the script, though... If I have no script, it doesn't work... Can anyone help me? Or is there a log on my PC that will show the logon script?

Thanks in advance,

Elton

P.S.: THANK YOU JAMES FOR FIXING THE FORUMS!

Not familiar with Pilot Net. Do you connect using your MSN ISP phone number? If so you should be able to connect to your MSN ISP without using a scrip. If you contact using a different point of entry you may need to call MSN tech support and get the correct "in" and "out" information. There should be different codes for your ID and password and the inmail POP and the outmail STM may be different than the ones you normally use.

Yes, I connect using my MSN ISP phone number. But when I look at the modem/pilot communication log, the ISP asks for "Username:" so if I use no script, when I try going to a website, it says "DNS error" or something like that.

I already attempted a script to send the username, but it just says "query timed out.Username:"

I will try calling MSN tech support...

Thank you very much for your help.

In Palm Preferences/Network doulble check the primary and secondary DSN codes to make sure you didn't slip on your input and get a 6 for a graiftti 9, or some such.

I just checked my "username" field on the Palm Preferences/Network and as I remembered ATT.worldnet gave me a coded Username. Example: my regular username line would be "drmud@worldnet.att.net" but they gave me an eight digit XXXXXXXX@worldnet.att.net.

I got a coded username for MSN too, and that was already in my Palm network info.

I have the DNS codes and IP address set to automatic, should I change that?

Thanks for the speedy reply.

EDIT: Here is all of my network info:

Service: MSN
User Name: XXXX
Password: -Assigned-
Connection: Add-On Modem
Phone: 5239069 (the access phone no for my town)

Details:

Connection type: PPP
Idle timeout: Power Off
Query DNS: enabled
IP Address: Automatic

Log in script:

End

Yes. You should put in the DNS codes for sure.
Your problem seems to be in how the DNS/Authentication sequence is being handed off. Though I don't see it as part of the problem you might want to check preferences/connections and check the "Add-On Moden" to be sure the dialing etc. is correct. Error messages can suggest one problem when in fact it is an earlier sequence that needs attention.

Now how would I get the DNS codes to put in?

Only one getting place! You need to call your ISP (MSN) and ask them for the numbers.

Okay, I got the DNS numbers, plugged them in, and this is what happens now:

The modem dials the number. After a few seconds, it prompts for the password. I write in the password and press OK. The screen says "Connection Established". I switch over to EudoraWeb. I try to go to www.eudora.com. But MSN never sends back a response. It just sits there.

What's next?

Download the demo of Blazer V 2.0 from Handspring it is a great browser. I like Eudora mail but found Eudora web less useful.

When you loaded your Palm with apps from the Palm Install Cd did you load any of the "connectivity" or "mobile" apps? Was Clipper on your CD? Clipper allows you to use short cuts to web sites. I am not suggesting you would want to live on a web diet of clippings but at least it would establish if your Plam was able as setup to connect.

PS: The Palm.com wireless section is actually pretty good. You can pick up apps there.

There was no "mobile, etc." apps on my CD, but there was AvantGo. I have tried it, but I am still thirsty for a :real: connection... :(

I will see, maybe the live web IS too much for me...

Thank you very much for your help, And NO THANKYOU to that goddam MSN dial-up... BROADBAND, HERE I COME!!!

If you get any more bright ideas about my problem, please post them!
