Hi ppls,

a program crashe whilst running and needed to be reset, upon resetting it now half way through pops a box which says

"fatal error" datamgr.c index out of range line 8589

a reset does not fix this and the only way to clear it is to hard reset.

i then restored via hotsync and when it wants to reset it self it stops halfway again and brings up the same message. this what i have tried:

resetting the palm with nothing on it, it doesnt bring up the same message.
only restoring half of the apps in the backup folder... but still no luck

i have palm os 3.5.2, palm desktop 4 and the hotsyc that comes with it 4.

any suggestions, all searches on google talk about anything but a palm iiic, all about the phones that use palmos

any ideas?

thanks in advanced......

Im getting the same problem, but on a PalmVx. Hard reset + rebuilding the 'user data' directory doesnt work. A bit annoying considering the error message is on the palm :/

How many entries are going onto it? I was wondering if it could be some sort of out of memory error as i have a potential 22k+ entries heading towards the pda :) or have you got yours fixed now?

ha some one replied! nah i cant fix the stupid thing... its been sitting there with nothing on it since september and i still havent done anything about it. as usual the palm support group was absolutley useless and i received a very robotic response treating me like an idiot, they suggested a hard reset even though my email said i had done that already.

im hopeless its not one many people seem to come accross.

i almost think the memory may be damaged because it crashed playing a game not after installing anything so i dont know how anything that i have backed up would cause this...

im lost any takers???

Well, got mine sorted - kinda...

We were using Hotsync with the Lotus Easysync conduits to connect it to Lotus Notes 5. Switching to Hotsync/Intellisync let it go through and sync fine. I say fine, there were a very few double entries in the calender which i'll take another look at today. We are in a lucky position where we have the option of using either piece of software, and when one is not working exactly as it should, the other usually does!

What are you using as your email/address book/calender software? Outlook? Lotus Notes? and is it happening in the calender (pretty sure mine was) you can try disabling the calender then email, then address book and try to narrow it down, but i dont have a fix as such for it :/

Have a good xmas!
